The training weekISA coach Dean, will make sure that the week will be filled with the mandatory First Aid and Surf Coach Training, the necessary exams, etc..but also includes enough moments to relax and surf. With two pointbreaks, a beach break and a reefbreak nearby, the surfing part won't cause any problem. Please promise to pay close attention to the lessons, since you can see the spot while sitting in the schoolroom...
The BoardXHouseThe BoardXHouse is fully designed to the needs of surfers. When coming home after a session you can take a shower and rinse & dry your suit before entering the building. At the basement level a rack is available to store your surfboards in a safe way. Your apartment looks over the infamous ‘Point de Imsouane’, this long righthander often peels over 700m. Each apartment has a balcony equipped with a BBQ.
All residents of the BoardXHouse can access the terrace on the roof and the joint pool. From the terrace you can enjoy the view over the second bay with a beachbreak and the rigthhander pointbreak called ‘La Cathédrale’.
The 3 apartments are identical and offer 3 bedrooms each. This adds up to a total amount of 8 beds per apartment. Each apartment also has a bathroom, shower, separate toilet, and fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen and living room are an open space overlooking the BBQ equiped balcony and the famous bay of Imsouane. In the basement each apartment has room to store about 20 boards.

The ISA & SLSA courses
Pre-requisites:
Candidates must be able to swim 400m in under 9mins 30 secs for the SLSA Surf Coach Life Saving Award. Candidates must have at least two years personal surfing experience.Each ISA Level 1 candidate must demonstrate that their Personal Surfing Ability is of an acceptable standard i.e. must demonstrate surfing a green wave both left and right with control and awareness of other water users. They will further demonstrate that they are competent to coach surfers (on land and in the water) from Beginners (never surfed before) through to Intermediate Level (able to paddle outside, catch green waves and ride right and left whilst performing basic manoeuvres).
The candidate should be able to talk for between 5 and 10 minutes on their given subject (in English) and must demonstrate good body language, communication skills and a sound knowledge of the subject material. The use of visual and / or mechanical aids is encouraged and the candidate will be questioned by the students and myself after the talk.
The lecturette section of the course is used to help Dean as the ISA Trainer/Assessor to assess a candidates’ preparative, organisational and teaching skills and their knowledge of any aspect of the sport.
The awards are valid for three years from the date of the Coaching Accreditation Course or until the relevant lifesaving qualification expires (whichever is earlier).
S.L.S.A. Surf Coach Life Saving Award.This award establishes a standard which allows candidates to manage a surfing lesson when combined with the ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor award.
It does not qualify candidates to become Beach Lifeguards but can be updated at a later date. The Course is held over 40 hours training plus 1 day examination by individual SLSA examiners. The course content is very similar to the N.A.R.S. Beach Life guard award except the timed pool swim allows you an extra two minutes to complete the 400m swim in 9min 30sec. Candidates must be able to achieve this before attending the course.
